About Our Organization
The mission of Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area is to make a significant difference in the lives of all coping with Alzheimer’s disease in our community.
Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area is a non-profit organization serving 10 parishes in the greater Baton Rouge area through educational programs and support services. Funds donated to the Walk/Run to Remember support:
- HelpLine information Service that provides telephone support for disease informtion, caregiving issues and community resources
- Education programs including programs such as Lunch ‘n Learn, Annual Education Conference, Video Ed, Sharing the Journey, Maximizing Your Memory Workshop and more
- Resource Library with over 1,000 holdings specific to dementia for caregivers and medical professionals to check out
- Quarterly newsletterthat gives current caregiving, disease and information on programs and services, including our calendar of events
- Charlie's Place is a respite care program designed to give caregivers a break, providing mind stimulating activities for individuals with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease or dementia
- Caregiver Respite Reimbursement Program assists families by covering expenses incurred from using sitters, adult day centers and other care programs
- Social Events for Alzheimer’s patients to enjoy with their family
- Caregiver Network Groups are monthly meetings throughout the 10-parish area sponsored by Alzheimer's Services that allow caregivers to lend one another support and encouragement
